Calpe woman found stabbed to death and boyfriend hanged

A 35-YEAR-OLD woman has been found stabbed to death in her home in Calpe (Alicante) and her boyfriend hanging in the house of a relative.

Guardia Civil officers were called out by the woman's employers after she did not turn up to work or answer her calls.

They saw through her window that the television was on, and broke in to find her body on the floor, wrapped in a rug.

The victim, a housekeeper in Calpe who was originally from Moldavia, is said to have been in a relationship with a 44-year-old Spaniard who was later found hanged in the home of a family member on an urbanisation just outside the town.

Police say the couple has no known history of domestic violence between them.

They are treating the man's death as suicide, but cannot confirm he murdered his girlfriend until investigations are completed.
